I often find that brainstorming sessions can be daunting for some team members, especially if there is no warning. To combat this, I send out a reminder to my team the day before so everyone has ideas prepared in advance. Share knowledge, insights and resources. As they say, knowledge is power. If your team can share knowledge, they'll feel more empowered to contribute on a level playing field. File sharing software can help your team access the resources they need to get their work done, as can internal collaboration software. But more importantly, create physical and virtual spaces where your team can share their insights, discuss their failures, and provide each other with constructive feedback.

Lead by example. You can create a collaboration strategy if you want, but if you don't Phone Number List demonstrate collaborative behaviors yourself, this will rub off on your employees. As the leader of a collaborative team, you need to demonstrate cooperation at every turn. One-on-one is a great place to start. Have regular one-on-ones with each team member to show you're ready for the conversation. The way you handle requests and make commitments also shows how you truly feel about collaboration. When your employees come to you for support, respect their request. And only make promises you know you can keep. The more your team trusts you to have their back, the more that trust will trickle down to your team.

Getting out of the office regularly helps teams build relationships based on shared interests rather than common ground during work hours. It helps employees see each other as people and not just colleagues. But that doesn’t need to wait for off-field events. An impromptu cup of coffee in the morning or a beer after get off work can help solidify relationships and bring your team together. Some smaller companies adopt a more conventional arrangement where team members pair up and eat lunch one-on-one, rotating among the teams.
